False Crowns

A doppelganger has taken the throne. They’ve been impersonating the ruler for a few years now, and their reign has been prosperous. When the shapeshifter confesses what they’ve done, certain members of the royal court conspire to unseat this usurper and restore the old ruler to power.

This is a short, system agnostic adventure for any fantasy roleplaying game. It is designed to be played in a single session, or perhaps in a few short sessions. The adventure contains a central plot hook, a series of detailed NPCs featured in the scenario, instructions for setup and establishing the scene, a progression of scenes accompanied by GM guidance, and a conclusion with suggested adventure rewards and plot threads that can be further developed. Maps and other reference material are included to help run the adventure. The document is a printer-friendly black and white, for ease of use in print as well as digitally.
